My Child HATES My Outdated Cell Phone

My oldest son, such a joy he can be. This oldest son of mine can also match my level of nagging, ha! I didn’t think it was possible but here we are.

A thought popped up in my head where a couple of weeks ago, after picking him up from school, he goes on to ask me about why I don’t have an iPhone 13…um, excuse me?! Why are you worried about what kind of phone I have?

“Mommy I think it’s time you get a new phone. You have such an old iPhone, why don’t you get the newest one? I don’t understand why you still have that old thing.” Honestly at first I couldn’t tell if he was embarrassed by it or he was genuinely curious. I’m going to go with the genuinely curious thing though because how could a seven year old possibly be embarrassed about the phone his mom totes around...right? Whatever.

This phone he is speaking of is my iPhone 7. Yes you read that correctly. Don’t judge me; I’m the type of person who believes if it isn’t broken don’t fix it. But I too feel it’s time for a hefty upgrade. I’m EXTREMELY tired of having such subpar photos and videos. Sometimes it genuinely makes me not want to take any, which makes me miss out on capturing moments I would have loved to look back on later! Ugh. Anyway, being a stay at home mom means I try to prioritize putting unnecessary wants at the very bottom of the list of all the needs and necessary wants my family has. Now if my phone had a major functioning issue, then it would definitely move up the list. This has been on my mind a lot though, and I’m hoping to earn some extra income to justify getting a newer iPhone, even if it’s not the iPhone 13. Hopefully my son will feel better about mommy’s new phone; and I’ll feel better about capturing quality moments!
